Mostly people in Jharkhand pay Rs. 100 as a stamp duty for rent agreements having a duration upto 11 months.
Here is the information on stamp duty charges for rent agreement in Jharkhand for tenancy of 11 months and more than 11 months:
Lease Term | Stamp Duty Calculation |
---|---|
Less than one year | 3% of the total annual rent amount |
1 to 5 years | 3% of the average annual rent reserved |
More than 5 and up to 10 years | 7% of 1.5 times the average annual rent reserved |
More than 10 and up to 20 years | 7% of 3 times the average annual rent reserved |
More than 20 and up to 30 years | 7% of 5 times the average annual rent reserved |
More than 30 and up to 100 years | 7% of 8 times the average annual rent reserved |
Let’s understand this with an example.
If the annual rent of a property is Rs. 1,80,000 with an annual increase of 10% in rent then what will be the stamp duty for 5 year agreement duration?
To calculate the stamp duty for a 5-year lease agreement with an annual rent of Rs. 1,80,000 and a 10% annual increase in rent, we’ll follow the formula provided in the table.
So, the stamp duty for a 5-year lease agreement with an annual rent of Rs. 1,80,000 and a 10% annual increase in rent would be approximately Rs. 6,587.52.
Regarding registration, it is not mandatory for rent agreements with a duration of less than 11 months in Jharkhand. However, if you plan to create an agreement for more than 11 months, registration becomes mandatory.
