The Indian Stamp (Jharkhand Amendment) Act, 2018
The Indian Stamp (Jharkhand Amendment) Act, 2018 is an Act of the Jharkhand legislature that amended the Indian Stamp Act, 1899. The amendment allows for the online payment of stamp duty in the state of Jharkhand.
The amendment was passed in response to the increasing demand for online services in the state. It also aims to make the payment of stamp duty more convenient and efficient.
The amendment made the following changes to the Indian Stamp Act, 1899:
- It added a new section, Section 10A, which allows for the online payment of stamp duty.
- It amended Section 33, which deals with the powers of the registering officer, to include the power to accept online payment of stamp duty.
- It amended Section 47, which deals with the penalty for non-payment of stamp duty, to include a provision for imprisonment for up to one year for willful non-payment of stamp duty.
The amendment came into force on 30th July, 2018.
