The Gujarat Stamp (Amendment) Act, 2018
The Gujarat Stamp (Amendment) Act, 2018 was enacted to amend the Bombay Stamp Act, 1958, which is the law governing stamps and registration in Gujarat. The amendment Act made a number of changes to the law, including:
- Increasing the stamp duty on certain documents, such as sale deeds and gift deeds.
- Introducing a new type of stamp duty, called the “e-stamp duty”, which can be paid online.
- Making it easier for people to get refunds of stamp duty that has been overpaid.
- Clarifying the law on certain aspects of stamp duty, such as the liability of parties to pay stamp duty.
